g3m4 Glossary
Angles (ASC/MC/IC/DSC)
- Angles 101: ASC = east/rising; MC = top/midheaven; DSC = west/setting; IC = bottom/home/foundations.
- Angular benefic: Jupiter or Venus on/near ASC or MC boosts overall success and cushions other hits.
- Angular malefic: Mars or Saturn on the angles can signify friction; softened if dignified or helped by benefics.
- Chart ruler strength: Condition of the rising sign ruler (dignity, aspects, combustion) is a primary go/stop gauge.
Basics (plain English)
- Ascendant (ASC): The degree rising on the eastern horizon at the moment; sets the chart’s starting point and house angles.
- Aspect: Geometric angle between bodies (conjunction 0°, square 90°, opposition 180°, trine 120°, sextile 60°). Hard = more friction, soft = smoother.
- Benefics: Jupiter and Venus (supportive planets). Malefics: Saturn and Mars (can add pressure); softened by dignity/sect/reception.
- Combust / under beams / cazimi: Too close to the Sun (combust ~8°, under beams ~17°) weakens the planet; cazimi (within ~0.5°) briefly strengthens it.
- Descendant (DSC): Western horizon point opposite the Ascendant; describes “the other” and partnerships.
- Imum Coeli (IC): The bottom of the chart; home/foundations angle.
- Midheaven (MC): The highest point above the horizon; career/public angle.
- Orb: The allowed distance (in degrees) for an aspect or hit to “count.” Smaller orb = tighter, louder.
- Planetary day/hour: Each day/hour has a ruler planet; Jupiter/Venus days/hours are supportive, Saturn/Mars are harsher unless topic-aligned.
- Retrograde: Planet appears to move backward; themes of review/redo. Station: Speed near zero at direction change; loud/unstable.
- Sect: Day charts prefer Jupiter/Mars; night charts prefer Venus/Saturn. Out-of-sect malefics hit harder.
- Void of Course (VOC) Moon: Moon makes no applying major aspects before changing signs; often considered “nothing sticks.”
Benefics and Malefics
- Who is who: Benefics = Jupiter, Venus. Malefics = Saturn, Mars.
- Benefic support: Jupiter/Venus aspecting ASC/MC/rulers can mitigate other difficulties.
- Malefic pressure: Saturn/Mars angular, retrograde, or squaring ASC/rulers adds friction; dignities soften the blow.
- Sect awareness: Day charts prefer Jupiter/Mars; night charts prefer Venus/Saturn. Out-of-sect malefics hit harder.
Combustion / Under Beams
- Combust: Planet within ~8° of the Sun; can weaken its topics (Mercury for comms/contracts, Venus for money/PR).
- Under beams: ~17° orb; milder than combustion but still obscuring.
- Cazimi: Within ~0.5° of the Sun; brief clarity/strength window.
Definitions (plain language)
- Angular: On/near ASC or MC; strongest lever. Angular benefics lift; angular malefics add pressure.
- Anaretic degree: 29°+; edgy/urgent endings. Avoid big starts here.
- ASC/MC: Fastest-moving, highest-impact angles; rerun if timing shifts by hours.
- Aspect: Angular relationship (conj/sextile/square/trine/opp); tighter orbs = stronger. Example: Sun trine Jupiter = tailwind.
- Benefic/Malefic: Jupiter/Venus help; Mars/Saturn challenge. Context (sect/reception) can soften or sharpen.
- Cadence: Sampling interval (30/60/120 min); finer cadence catches ASC/MC/hour flips.
- Combust: Within a few degrees of the Sun; clarity/strength reduced. Keep messaging crisp.
- Domicile/Detriment: Own sign = strong footing; opposite sign = weaker footing.
- Exaltation/Fall: Special strength vs. special weakness; boosts or drags outcomes.
- Mansion/Nakshatra: Lunar segment (~13°20'); some tagged supportive (e.g., Al Thurayya, Al Dabaran).
- Norm: Score minus the run’s mean for that location (baseline adjust).
- Opportunity/Risk: Separate positive vs. negative sums before blending.
- Orb: Allowed degrees from exact; small for fast factors, wider for slow. Example: Moon aspects often within 4–6°.
- Percentile: Rank within the run (0–100); higher = better relative slot.
- Planetary day/hour ruler: Small nudge to tone; more potent if angular.
- Reception: Planet in another’s sign; benefic reception can buffer malefic hits.
- Retrograde / Station: Retro = backward speed; Station = near zero. Expect reviews/revisions; avoid irreversible commits on station days.
- Sect: Day/night condition; Saturn milder by day, Mars milder by night.
- Severity tags: Go/Caution/Avoid from percentile (or score if percentile missing).
- Via combusta: 15° Libra–15° Scorpio; traditional caution/volatility zone.
- VOC (Void of Course): Moon makes no major aspects before sign change; “do nothing new.” Good for routine/cleanup, not launches.
- Z-score: Std devs from run mean; magnitude flags outliers.
Fixed Stars
- Royal stars: Regulus, Spica, Sirius, Aldebaran, Antares on angles can be potent (with sign-specific cautions).
- Algol / volatile stars: Avoid tight contacts for sensitive launches unless intentionally courting shock themes.
- Parans: Star rising/setting with key planets can color the chart (supportive or disruptive).
- Orbs for stars: Often 1–2°; tighter = louder. Wider orbs soften the effect.
Gematria
- Ciphers: Ordinal, Reverse Ordinal, Reduction, Reverse Reduction; same input across multiple mappings.
- Mixed digits: Count digits adds 0-9 values inside phrases; Spell numbers converts digit runs to words (useful for 432/440/444-style comparisons).

Mercury State
- What Mercury rules: Contracts, documents, travel, logistics, communications, code/systems.
- Retrograde / station: Slows contracts, travel, launches; near-station is peak volatility.
- Combust / under beams: Within ~8° (combust) or ~17° (under beams) of the Sun can burn clarity; cazimi (~0°) is a brief boost.
- Afflicted ruler: For contracts, a harmed Mercury or 3rd/7th ruler is a major flag.
Mitigation Tips
- Lean on benefics: Timing to place Jupiter/Venus on angles or aspect rulers can offset moderate negatives.
- Match topic to ruler: Start during a supportive planetary day/hour for the topic ruler.
- Shift location/time: Adjust latitude or time window to move malefics off angles or avoid VOC/combust periods.
Moon State
- Phases: Waxing (growing light) favors building; waning (shrinking light) favors winding down.
- VOC basics: Moon making no applying major aspects before sign change; treated as “nothing sticks” for fresh starts.
- Waxing vs waning: Waxing favors growth; waning often weakens starts unless intentionally winding down.
- Void of course: Moon making no applying major aspects before sign change; often avoided for launches and contracts.
- Last aspect before sign change: Final applying aspect shows the “story ending” (to benefic = supportive; to malefic = caution).
- Sign / mansion / nakshatra fit: Some signs/mansions are pro-build, others favor rest or endings.

Retrogrades / Stations
- Retrograde basics: Planet appears to backtrack; use for review/maintenance, not fresh launches.
- Station basics: Speed near zero at direction change; effects loud, erratic, concentrated around that day.
- Stations: Near-zero speed; planets are loud and unstable. Mercury/Mars/Saturn stations especially noticeable.
- Retrogrades: Reconsider/rework themes; often avoided for first launches, but acceptable for returns/maintenance.
- Direction changes: Days around the station intensify effects; plan accordingly for travel/contract start dates.

Timing Levers
- Planetary day/hour 101: Each day/hour has a ruler; Jupiter/Venus day/hour tend to help, Saturn/Mars can strain unless topic-aligned.
- Cadence: How often the timeline samples (e.g., 30/60/120 minutes). Finer cadence finds short windows; coarser keeps things fast.
- Planetary day/hour: Jupiter/Venus day/hour boosts; Saturn/Mars day/hour can be harsher unless topic-aligned.
- Ingress sensitivity: Sign changes can destabilize a start; some prefer to avoid hours around malefic ingresses.
- Cadence: Finer sampling (15–30 min) helps catch short-lived windows near stations/VOC boundaries.
Topic Fit
- House/topic rulers: ASC = you/launch; 2nd = money; 3rd = comms/travel; 7th = contracts/partners; 9th = travel/foreign; 10th = career/PR.
- Contracts / comms: Mercury strength, 3rd/7th rulers dignified, avoid Mercury affliction/VOC Moon.
- Travel / logistics: 3rd/9th rulers in good condition, Mercury not combust/retro near station.
- Launch / PR: ASC/MC rulers strong, benefic angular support, avoid malefics on angles.
- Money / fundraising: 2nd/8th rulers dignified, Venus/Jupiter support, avoid heavy Saturn hits.
